UN-Habitat Better Cities Film Festival @ WUF10

The World Urban Forum is one of the most inclusive global forums that operates as an open-ended think tank for collaboration and awareness of urban issues. The tenth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF10) will carry the theme Cities of Opportunities: Connecting Culture and Innovation. This means that for the first time, culture, creativity and innovation will be at the center of the global conversation in regard to human settlements.

They have selected Soufra to be apart of the festival this year, as the story of Mariam and diverse team of fellow refugee women behind Soufra is a true testament to the power of creating opportunity through culture, community, and innovation.

The film will be followed by a panel discussion: "How to Invest in City Inclusion", joined by Myrna Atalla, Executive Director of Alfanar, Soufra's founding partner. Established in 2004, Alfanar is the first venture philanthropy organization working exclusively in the Arab region. Alfanar’s goal is to ensure that the poor and vulnerable, especially women and children, are able to access the education and opportunity they need to lead productive and dignified lives. They work to help social enterprises improve lives through financial stability, supporting grassroots organizations and helping them achieve lasting social change in their communities.

UN-Habitat has partnered with Better Cities Film Festival to bring the UN-Habitat Better Cities Film Festival @WUF10. The festival will present three days of special screenings from February 10-12th as part of the Tenth Session of the World Urban Forum. The festival will exhibit the best films from around the world, all focused on the theme of making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.

The UN-Habitat Better Cities Film Festival @WUF10 will establish a community of urban story telling allies to keep the idea of better cities at the forefront of visual media as well as on people’s minds. The festival also gives an opportunity for communities to host a Better Cities Film Festival Screening. Find out more here:  http://www.bettercitiesfilmfestival.com/
