Archdiocese’s Ministry for Migrants and Refugees

The Catholic Commission of Social Justice (CCSJ) and Archdiocese's Ministry for Migrants and Refugees (AMMR) is bringing together each Parish's Ministry for Migrants and Refugees (PMMR) to facilitate discussion, trainings, and strategy in support of their efforts to provide equal opportunity and a universal standard of living that is inclusive to all migrants and refugees in Trinidad & Tobago.
The aims of the meeting would be:
  • to provide an opportunity/forum for representatives from the 11 or so parishes that have each established a Parish Ministry for Migrants and Refugees (PMMR), as well as representatives from other Parishes, to meet and discuss issues/share good practice/identify challenges relating to the mandate we all have to welcome, protect, promote, and integrate migrants and refugees;
  • to provide training for participants to develop their knowledge, skills, and ability to facilitate their work in parishes to welcome, protect, promote, and integrate migrants and refugees. We will conduct a  training needs assessment.

    The ‘training’ at this session will include -

    - A Q&A from the experiences of the groups

    - Establishing policies and procedures for the groups

    - Strategies for engaging migrants

“If the dream of a peaceful world is shared by all, if the refugees’ and migrants’ contribution is properly evaluated, then humanity can become more and more of a universal family and our Earth a true common home.” Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Caritas Internationalis president.
