NAVEL: SOFRA DAYMEH سفره دايمه Program
Based in L.A., NAVEL is challenging traditional systems with their inclusive and innovative approach to creating a space for cultural workers and institutions to put theory to practice, engage, and collaborate.
As they set the table, NAVEL curated a space for people to gather, nourish, and engage in a deeper conversation around Palestinian culture, tradition, and indigenous erasure. This past Saturday officially started the Sofra Daymeh program where ideas were introduced, thought was provoked, and reflection planted seeds for action. At the end of the month, NAVEL will be screening Soufra – providing an opportunity for the audience to gain insight into the world of generational refugee, Mariam Shaar, who has and continues to build bridges between religion, culture, and conditioning through her food truck service that showcases the heart of Palestinian tradition – that of food and hospitality.
At this screening event, NAVEL will announce more information about SOFRA DAYMEH’s expansion into Palestinian-American homes across Los Angeles and the United States this fall.
30% of ticket sales go directly to the women of Soufra.
